I owned both cr500 -95 and cr250 -95, the way you ride is fast but there's no way you'll be able to ride a cr500 in low gears for 25min unless your are professional. Race was less than 8 min so i understand why you did not need to conserve engergy. 500 twostroke is more like a 450, you dont need to ride mid-to-top end power to go fast. well done!

I rode my CR500 just for fun back in the day. I also raced a few races. I could have easily been in the lead in the first corner against all the 250s, but held back because I knew the other riders were better/faster than me. I just raced my race, and never came in last. I just had fun :) I´ve never been the " Siegertyp", / gotta win guy. I just enjoyed riding the mighty CR500!

A CR500 is a uniquely different animal that has it’s own unique character compared to any other bike I have ever owned! Just when you think you have mastered it, it will sit you on your arse just as quick to show you who is boss! You will never tame it or fully control it as it will always be the ‘boss’ of you! Just starting the beast takes balls and determination and once you start it, people come from all around, drawn by the unique sound of the ‘King of Ping!’ No wonder they keep going up in value as they will never build a bike like this again!
